CF Industries (Permit Issued)
CF Industries successfully launched a new mining operation and expansion of a phosphogypsum management system using the concepts of ecosystem management. It was able to obtain all land approvals and environmental permits within 14 months after the first application was submitted, a permitting process normally requiring at least four years. As a result, the company agreed to close the existing phosphogypsum storage system two years earlier than required by regulation, provide an additional layer of protection against future groundwater impacts and provide a wildlife corridor connecting two areas of significant habitat that are currently isolated from each other.

Farmland Hydro, L.P. (In Process)
Farmland Hydro, L.P. (FHLP) has elected to participate in the ecosystem team permitting project for its pre-mining permit and development of its Hardee County phosphate mine. The property, located in Ona, consists of approximately 15,000 acres and is currently being used for citrus production and other agricultural and miscellaneous activities. Using current market projections, FHLP anticipates a mine life of approximately 30 years.

IMC-Agrico (In Process)
IMC Agrico is currently taking advantage of the team permitting process for its future Ona and Pine Level phosphate mines. A public workgroup of about 50 members is coordinating closely with the permitting review team to identify issues and make recommendations at every stage in the development, review and evaluation of the applications. The Pine Level phosphate reserves cover approximately 24,000 acres in DeSoto and Manatee Counties. The Ona reserves encompass 21,500 acres in Hardee County. Each mine would have a life of approximately 20 years.
